The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) Learning and Development School, in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), has successfully trained 30 machine operators to improve operations at the ports.

This cohort represents the first batch of the partnership initiative, which aims to equip individuals with machine operation skills to address the skills gap in the maritime sector. The program underscores GPHA's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence and safety, recognizing the crucial role of skilled machine operators in port operations.

Mr. Kwabena Adu Safo, General Manager of Administration at GPHA, emphasized during the trainees' graduation ceremony that the international certifications obtained through this program would enable operators to qualify for job opportunities in the global maritime industry.

Mr. Mark Amoamah, President of CILT, highlighted the importance of personal and professional development in keeping pace with the dynamic technology in logistics. He emphasized that as the logistics and transport industry continues to evolve due to technological advancements and industry best practices, machine operators need to remain flexible, adaptable, and continuously seek opportunities to enhance their skills.

Mr. Amoamah encouraged the graduates to explore further training and certification to deepen their expertise and expand their career prospects in the industry. The partnership between GPHA and CILT demonstrates a proactive approach to addressing skills development and ensuring operational efficiency in Ghana's ports.
